Description:  Green Apple is a not-for-profit social enterprise based near Cartagena in Colombia. We focus on sustainability and job creation while reducing waste. 


Since May 2018, Green Apple has been working to create sustainable, positive employment opportunities for local people, while reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill, or worse, left along the coast of Cartagena, impacting tourists and local people alike. We’re working with hotels and restaurants in Cartagena to successfully divert tons of waste from landfill every month. We are the first operation in the Colombian coastal region to recycle glass.



Green Apple is:

• Helping hotels and restaurants reduce waste and make positive sustainability changes
• Successfully diverting tons of waste in Cartagena from landfill every month 
• The first and only operation in the Colombian coastal region to recycle glass
• Converting glass into an ecologically sound construction material, reducing beach dredging
• Converting organic waste into nutrient rich compost to grow fresh produce for hotels, restaurants and locals
• Creating training and employment opportunities on the island of Bocachica.
